Midsole Foot Protection

Postby Mumbo Jumbo » Mon Nov 16, 2009 9:38 pm

Is there any legislation regarding midsole foot protection? We have had an increase in nails in foot accidents over the past few months, these have been subbies. We have mandatory midsole for our own guys but dont enforce it for out subbies (yet!). Just wondered if there was any legislation type stick we could beat them with?

Mumbo,

As the employer, you can establish any standards for contractors and subcontractors coming on site. If you (the company) feel that midsole protection is required then document it in your PPE assessment. Done and over with.

If the contractor/subcontractor is under your direct supervision and you are directing their activities, the company may become liable for providing the PPE.
